The Waterline News

The Waterline News Grantville
Thanks to COVID19 this is a different kind of Waterline News for a different kind of Easter. When uncertainty seeps into our daily life, it’s normal to experience wide ranging emotions. Some may obsess, while others lose focus. When unchecked and isolated, its possible to feel overwhelmed with negativity. So the importance of optimism increases in a crisis. I don’t have to remind people how important it is that we look over the fence to check on our neighbours. Over the last few years I have seen so much generosity and community spirit that I know a helping hand is always close at hand. As your Ward Councillors firstly, we would like to hope you are all well. Council has established a number of on-line platforms that we have been testing with CEO, training sessions, and meetings over the last few weeks. These are through Zoom (password secure) Go to Meetings, Microsoft Team. We are interested if your group would like to set up this new way of engaging with Councillors and holding your meetings. You may already be doing this! However in these uncertain times connecting with people and the sharing of correct information on Council and other issues of Community concerns is very important. Please let us know if we can set up a catch up to discuss further. This maybe the way we do it for awhile in these uncertain times.
Regards Cr's Clare, Bruce & Geoff take care.

- ABOUT US -
The Waterline News is a local independent community magazine which is delivered to outlets in Tooradin, Koo Wee Rup, Lang Lang, Nyora, Loch, Kernot, Grantville, Corinella, Coronet Bay, Bass, San Remo, Newhaven, Phillip Island, Cowes, Wonthaggi and French Island. The Waterline News was until recently edited and produced by Independent journalist Roger Clark from Grantville who had more than 45 years experience as a journalist, mostly in the sporting arena but he also had considerable experience with community and local tourism newsletters in both the Yarra Valley and Tarwin Lower/Venus Bay. Roger had a passion for Community development in the Grantville and District area, acted as the flagmaster for the Memorial Park for three years, served on the Cemetery trust for four years and developed The Waterline News as an independent local community magazine free from the restraints of being tied to any one organisation. Geoff Ellis has now taken on this onerous task. The pages of The Waterline News are open to all community groups, generally on a no cost basis. The Waterline News contains contact details of all local Community Groups who have provided information, with opportunities to promote their special events and activities, these include Lang Lang, Corinella, Cowes and Wonthaggi Neighbourhood Houses and Community Centres.
Please contact The Waterline News to submit an article, advertise, notify the community of up-coming events, ask a question, comment or perhaps suggest an idea for future inclusion. Your suggestions are welcome.
